Indonesia itself is now filled with many successful women with very adequate income, making some to be among the list of Forbes Indonesia’s 50 Richest–adding up to the history of women’s rights in Indonesia.

Here is the list of five richest women in Indonesia worth the respect and appreciation.

1. Kartini Muljadi

The first woman on the list has successfully hold the 48th rank in Forbes Indonesia’s 50 Richest for 2019.

Kartini Muljadi is the owner of Tempo Group, a company operating mainly to produce medicines and other consumer goods.

Through this corporation–which is also known as PT Tempo Scan Pacific, Kartini has managed to earn a net worth of $630 million or approximately 8.82 zillion rupiahs.

Aside from medical production, she is also well-known of establishing the law firm Kartini Muljadi & Rekan (KMR).

Beginning her career in the world of law, Kartini was formerly an attorney and a judge.

She is now embracing success with her children, where her son—a graduate from New York University—contributes in helping her running PT Tempo Scan Pacific.

Aside from her achievement in Forbes’s list, Kartini has also won various awards.

One of them is the Capital life Achievement given by the former president Megawati Soekarno Putri in 2004. 

2. Arini Subianto

Arini Subianto is another woman who has successfully been admitted by Forbes as the 49th richest person in Indonesia.

This successor of the Indonesian tycoon Benny Subianto has been given the responsibility to take over her father’s multi-million dollar company.

Arini is now directing Persada Capital Investama, which mainly works on the investments of rubber processors, coal, palm oil, and wood processing products.

She managed to earn approximately $600 million or 8.4 zillion rupiahs in 2019.

Arini was once known as a book-and gift-lover. This other passion of hers was still pursued when she merged her gift and furniture shop in Jakarta with a bookstore called Aksara.

She is also passionate in arts and design—although she majored in Business Administration for her masters degree, she was once a design undergraduate student in the United States.

3. Shinta Widjaja Kamdani

This next amazing woman is well-known for her role in Indonesia’s local business landscape and successfully earns about $1.2 billion revenue per year.

This Chief Executive of Sintesa Group has developed into 17 businesses under her management, expanding from manufacturing and power to real estate and consumer products.

Shinta Widjaja Kamdani is a graduate from Columbia University and Harvard Business School.

She then began tasting the real world through her first career as a trainee intern in Revlon and several other positions in other companies before being trusted to continue her family’s company.

Shinta successfully held the position in Forbes Asia’s 50 Powerful Businesswomen in 2012, 2013, and 2016.

Besides, She also won other awards like the Women Entrepreneur of the Year in Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards as well as the 30 Best CEOs by Business Indonesia Award.

4. Megawati Sukarnoputri

Megawati Sukarnoputri is widely known to be the former and only Indonesian woman president and is now holding the position of chairperson in the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

Possessing a net worth of $14 million, she has been increasingly active in the Indonesian politics and is now considered not only to be among the wealthiest women, but also one of the most powerful women in Indonesia.

This daughter of Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia, has been living a political journey ever since her first participation in PDI in 1987.

She has served the party for several years after, until she finally became the vice president to Abdurrahman Wahid.

5. Sri Mulyani Indrawati

Another powerful rich woman in Indonesia is Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the Finance Minister of Indonesia from 2005-2010 and 2016-present.

Though her value of net worth has not been published, she is still known as a successful woman financially through her position in Indonesian politics as well as her prominent background family.

Becoming the alumni of one of the best state universities in Indonesia, the University of Indonesia, Sri Mulyani has begun her career by serving as a consultant in Atlanta, Georgia in programs to strengthen Indonesia’s autonomy.

She has then been assigned to be the finance minister until the year 2010 before moving to direct the World Bank Group.

In the same year, she was also assigned to be the CEO of Bank Mandiri, before she finally came back as the minister up to the present time.
