Jember fashion carnival pioneered by Dynand Fariz as a great fashion designer in Jember. In 2002, he and his family established the family carnival around his house and neighborhood. After that, he insists to make a bigger carnival in his city around the Jember city square to introduced the national cultures around the world.

Dealing the carnival licensing in Jember is not easy. That makes Dynand Fariz through some difficult time but finally, he granted the blessing from the Jember’s regent. That was a big movement for Dynand so that he and his community finally can legally hold the carnival in 2003 every year until now.

How the JFC Going?

The Jember fashion carnival used to be held only one day with a grand carnival session. But, since the people’s anomaly is getting bigger from time to time, the carnival is held in about four up to five days.

The carnival starts with the opening ceremony in front of the district government official state. Commonly it was attended by the regent and vice-regent complete with other guests and journalists. The runway that they use only about 100 m long as to represent the carnival themes.

Since then, the economical growth in Jember based on tourism rise properly. In 2017, the Jember fashion carnival becomes the third of international carnival after Nottinghill, U. S. America, and Reunion, France.

In 2016, the JFC got the runner up position of the International de Victoria carnival at Seychelles. Since then, the carnival becomes the most important thing to rise tourism, hotel needs, transportation, and other economic growth in Jember.

After these great achievements, the JFC gives the most significant partnership between the ministry of culture to the foreign ministry in the tourism side to participate in the carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil in between 2019 – 2024.
