Along 76 kilometers coastal line, people in Lombok celebrate this cultural heritage festival every 20th day of 10th month in Sasak Tribe traditional calendar (around February).

They will perform in a big with international standards stages and being judged for their exciting choreography, dancing skills and cohesive staging act. International and national journalists and photographers never missed documenting this majestic festival.

This ceremonial festival contains of 7 stages of ritual: which are first, examining soils, cutting down banana stems, spinning, fingering the fingers, parading turban, tabuik up pangkek, tabuik hoyak, and throwing tabuik into the sea.
Tabuik Festival is symbolized by a horse with human head and wings called “buraq” and “tabut” or wooden coffin. This buraq is symbolized with wooden coffin on its back because there is that one story that tell us as if buraq has helped to deliver Husein’s body to the hereafter. And Pariaman people ordinarily make some artificial buraq art to remember this story on Tabuik festival.
