Indonesian language step by step becomes popular in the world. It’s not just in Indonesia that applies Indonesian language lesson. It might unbelievable, but the truth is now the Indonesian language has been studied in more than 45 countries in the world. Some countries are Australia, Japan, Vietnam, Egypt, and Italy. This makes Indonesian language becomes the top 10 most widely used languages around the world. So, what makes it popular? Here are the reasons why Indonesian language is popular.

  1. The easy of grammar and structure

One of the advantages of the Indonesian language is the structure of language that is easy to learn by many people. There is no change in the use of verbs if used in the present, past, or future. Unlike English, the use of verbs changes because the different use by the time. Moreover, nouns in Bahasa Indonesia don’t need articles or gender like other languages. That’s why many people are interested in learning Bahasa Indonesia.

  1. Indonesian language is unique

Although derived from Malay, but the Indonesian language has different characteristics, both from the wording and pronunciation. Malaysia is also famous for its Malay language. Although the accent and its meaning are almost similar, the Indonesian language is more pleasant to hear and understand because Indonesian is the only language in the world. For example berputar (Indonesian language) and putar-putar (Malaysian), both of them means headache.

In the history written that Indonesian language is derived from the Malay language of Riau. According to the book tittled  Itinerario, written by Jan Huygen, mentioned that Malay language is famous for the most polite language in the eastern region. If sorted history, as it is known that Malay is a market language. The language of the market was created from a combination of merchant languages from all over the world that once stopped at Malay. The addition of new vocabulary, both absorbed from foreign languages and from local languages, until finally it forms EYD (Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan) which means the Enhanced of Indonesian Spelling. That is why, Indonesian language is so rich.

The ease of learning Bahasa Indonesia is also based on the writing factor. The Indonesian language uses Latin script such as English. While Mandarin, Japanese, and Arabic have their ways of writing. Mandarin applies the script of Hanzi, Japanese apply Kanji and Katakana, and Arabic implements Hijaiyah. That is why when you learn Indonesian Language you don’t need to learn the new script.

The discourse to make Indonesian language as the international language first appeared in the 41st Session of the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia (Mabbim) Assembly and the 7th Session of the Southeast Asian Literature Council (Masters) in Makassar, March 13, 2002. The seminar produced a number formulation, among which the proposal for Indonesian language is used as the official language of ASEAN and AFTA (ASEAN Free Trade Area).

Besides Indonesia has a lot of beautiful natures view, it also has various cultures that make some people from other countries want to learn.
