There are soap operas, cartoons, and legendary television quiz shows in Indonesia.
“At that time was good old days,” Indonesian people said. The 1990s to early 2000 generations are proud of having television quiz shows because those were not only entertaining but also educational.
People are now complaining about the recent television quiz shows since those are not as good as what they had years ago.
So, let us reminisce about the legendary television quiz shows in Indonesia that are so memorable.
1. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
People around the world from Afghanistan to Venezuela were waiting for this television quiz shows, so did Indonesia in the 1990s.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? was originated from Britain in 1998 that hosted by Chris Tarrant.
In Indonesia, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? was hosted by Tantowi Yahya. This quiz show was aired every Saturday night.
This quiz could enrich the audience’s knowledge since the level of the question was increased session after session.
2. Siapa Berani?
In this quiz, the participants were obligated to wear unique accessories. It can be the reason why people enjoy watching this quiz show.
However, the quiz also opened our minds by asking selected participants about Indonesian facts such as soome interesting facts of Javan tigers.
The schedule of Siapa Berani? was in the morning and was performed for five years!
This show was popular back then because the two hosts, Helmi Yahya, the King of Television Quiz Shows, and Alya Rohali could lighten the atmosphere.
3. Komunikata
Komunikata was first seen on September 25, 2000. It lasted for five years and ended on June 3, 2005. This one of the legendary television quiz shows in Indonesia was aired at the TPI television channel every late afternoon.
This top show was hosted by Isam Surentu, a talented man who was born in the city which has one of the best beaches in Indonesia, Manado.
This show invited two groups consisting of five members. Every member had to quickly guess the word being clued by the previous member. The clue from the previous member could not be used by the next member.
For example, they have to guess the word “crocodile”, so the first member of the group tells the second one “Lacoste”. Then, the second member guessed and tell the third one, “a reptile”, and so on.
It was so fun, isn’t it? Because you have to think the most suitable word so that the others get the clue correctly.
4. Famili 100
“Survey membuktikan!” (the survey proves that…) was a popular sentence produced by the host, Sonny Tulung. This legendary television quiz show in Indonesia was a big hit! Even it was continued from one channel to another.
This show was first presented on April 1, 1996, in ANTV channel, and was ended on TV7 channel on February 25, 2005.
Famili 100 was then reproduced on November 4, 2013, and hosted by one of the most popular persons in Indonesia, Tukul Arwana.
It developed the audience’s knowledge of vocabulary. At first, the host stated a category like “most popular Indonesian superheroes.” Then, the contestant would mention some of them.
After that, the host, along with the contestants, cross-checked on the survey whether or not the mentioned answers available on the survey.
5. Berpacu Dalam Melodi
This quiz show is suitable for you who love music very much. If you know the “Slay It, Don’t Spray It” in The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, this quiz was pretty much the same, but without the spraying water.
The contestants should guess the song sung by a band in the studio. The one who got the highest score would be the winner.
Berpacu Dalam Melodi was hosted by Koes Hendratmo. It was first seen on December 20, 1988, in the TVRI channel, and it lasted for 15 years!
The popularity of this program was breathtaking. It then was reproduced by another channel, NET., and hosted by David Bayu Danangjaya.
6. Kuis Dangdut
Owned by Ernst Katoppo and hosted by Jaja Mihardja, Kuis Dangdut had more than eight-hundred episodes! The program had been shown since September 3, 1994, to June 2006.
One episode was divided into two rounds. On the first round which is titled “Goda Dangdut”, the contestants must answer the host’s questions related to anything about dangdut.
On the second round, the contestants guessed songs originally created by most famous Indonesian dangdut performers. The second round’s concept was similar to Berpacu Dalam Melodi.
